~Yet Another Thursday

YET ANOTHER THURSDAY

Well, here I am again, another Thursday has come, which means Plush night! Once again being bored, I have taken pictures. I swear one of these days I'm actually going to take a picture of something other than myself. Just kidding.

I actually took quite a few pictures of my niece this weekend, she's very photogenic... maybe I'll post a couple of pics of my sis' family that I took. Let's see...

My sister's family

Okay, from left to right is my sister LaShane and her husband Garth. They have been married since 1989 when they were both teenagers!!

The beauty to their left, our right is my beautiful 15 year old niece Kiara, who'll turn 16 this year (yes, do the math). Kiara's a sophomore in high school and right now can't wait to get her learner's permit! Kiara is like my daughter more than my niece, she spent a lot of time with me when she was a baby and she's still one of my best friends. We were supposed to get our lips pierced together a year ago or so, but I was taking too long for her, so she had her dad take her instead, which of course forced me to get off my butt and get it done about a week after she did!

Next came Garth Jr, the cutie with the glasses, and his minute younger, but much bigger fraternal twin brother Jack. They're 9 years old and while Garth is into sci-fi, science and video games, Jack is loves computers, Sponge Bob, drawing and is a music prodigy. Did I mention he's autistic? An autistic genius!

Last to come is the youngest twins Samuel and Samantha. They're in kindergarten right now. Sam pretty much likes whatever his big brother Garth Jr. likes, and Samantha is a singer to the core. All she does is sing and make up songs, and she's real good too!

Well, that's it folks! That is my sister and her family. I know I didn't say much about her and Garth, but she has a blog of her own that you can check out... http://lashaneswords.blogspot.com
I'm gonna go. Can't wait for the chicken breast salad tonight, gotta eat something now.

~I Love It When A Plan Comes Together

I LOVE IT WHEN A PLAN COMES TOGETHER

I finally got a cell phone, (thanks sis and bro!) my taxes are done (expecting refund within 2 weeks) and I have an appointment at the DMV for this Friday to renew my ID! Wow, it seems as if my life is finally coming together! Now if I can only get a hold to one of those ever so elusive boyfriends I've been hearing so much about, my life would be that much more peachy keen!

Who would have thought it could be so easy to do taxes... boy do I ever love turbotax.com! Now the most daunting thing I have to do this week is worry about how my pic of my new ID is gonna come out. Should I re-braid my hair so it will be all nice and neat... NAH! As I stated in the last post, I HATE to braid hair, so I leave it to the last possible moment! It's bad for my hair, but what do I care, it's going to be braided anyway.

Well, tonight is Gilmore Girls and I'm looking forward to it, though I do have to say that if Lorelai ends up with Christopher instead of Luke, then it will be the biggest disappointment and the most horrible waste of 5 years I've ever put into anything.

I just read the blog of one Ms. Laurell K. Hamilton and got the greatest news... she has finished her book, "Stroke of Midnight", which is the 4th installment in the Meredith Gentry series. And for those of you who know me, know that I am completely excited about this book. I am completely obsessed with these series of books. I haven't ever been this enthralled with any books, at least not any that I haven't written!

For anyone who's into fantasy books that deal in Faerie's and magic and sex... I strongly suggest you read these books, starting with A Kiss Of Shadows. I put off reading the book for the longest time, maybe 2 or 3 years, and when I finally read it, I was searching for things to be wrong with it because I still didn't want to read it. But when I finished it, I was so into it, I had to find out if there were other books, and there were. I read the second book, A Caress of Twilight in a night and then when I got the third book, Seduced By Moonlight, I literally did not put it down until I finished it.

I started reading it about 12:30 pm and didn't put it down to eat or anything until I finished it which happened to be about 8:00 the next morning. I love the books so much that I actually took the time to scan the books so I can have them on my computer so it would be easier to read, since I'm permanently attached to my laptop. Then I spent like $75 to get all three books on MP3, and can listen to them whenever I wish. To be honest though, I really bought the books on audio so my sister could get into the books without having to read them, (she does have 5 kids), but even still she hasn't listened to them, but what can you do?

The only downside to the audio thing is I can't stand how the woman is reading the books. After a while it's not so bad, but when I first started listening to them instead of reading them (I've read them about 7 or 8 times each) it was like torture trying to suffer through this woman's reading. Now I'm used to it though.

I read this one guys blog about people having too much time if they can read a book more than once. Well that's me. But did he take into account the fact that not all people have the need to try and soak up every word ever written. Most books I couldn't care about. I used to really be into Dean Koontz books but found I began to get real disappointed in his endings. I love how you open the first page and feel as if you're already in the thick of it, but the end he just seems to poop out. Stephen King on the other hand draws crap out way too much. You can be halfway through the book and nothing has happened yet.

Then other books, if I can't get into it within the first 10 or 15 pages, I'll lose interest and never pick it up again, which is why I'm so hooked on these Merry Gentry books. Laurell has another series that she writes named the Anita Blake series, which she's on like the 13th or 14th book or something, but I haven't read any of those. I actually have no interest in reading them, at least not yet.

The thing I hear from long time Anita Blake fans though is how disappointed they're getting in the books. From what I gather, though Anita Blake has been around much longer than Merry Gentry, Laurell seems to be giving Anita a lot of Merry's traits, particularly her sexual habits. At least that's what I get from reading Anita fans' gripes about the recent books. See that's what happens, Merry comes into your life and she just takes over!

I guess that's the power of the fey! At least the power of the Unseelie Princess!

(P.S.) Doyle for King!!!
